Desert Etches

Nazca lines are located in a fertile valley irrigated by a pre-Hispanic aqueduct. The famous Nazca Lines are a must see for visitors. These world famous gigantic animal and geometric ground markings, preserved by Dr. Maria Reiche were etched on the desert sands 1,500 years ago. Best viewed from the air, flights over the lines can be arranged from Ica, Nazca or Lima.

Day 1

Lima - Ica

Travel by regular bus from Lima to Ica, 440 Kms south through arid desert and lush coastal oasis. En-route visit Ica, for a short city tour, and if time permits, a visit to the regional archaeological museum.

Day 2

Ica - Nazca

Morning flight over the world famous ground markings, the mysterious Nazca lines. Best viewed from the air, these giant animal and geometric figures were etched on the desert sands by Nazca people 1,500 years ago. Afternoon transfer to Paracas, a windswept arid peninsula and site of one of Peru's most renowned archaeological sites. Enjoy the rest of the day at the charming and peaceful Paracas Bay.

Day 3

Paracas - Lima

Morning excursion by boat to the Ballestas Islands to view thousands of birds, sea lions and fur seals in their natural surroundings. The famous candlestick design, a Nazca civilization figure etched on the desert face, can also be seen from the boat. In the afternoon, a relaxing drive by regular bus back to Lima.
